Why Men Matter

Genesis 3:9-12

Introduction

When God created man, He gave him a position of authority with responsibilities.  That man, Adam, held a position of priority, was accountable to God and obeyed His commands as watchman of the earth.  As long as Adam followed God’s instructions, his life was blessed and was in constant fellowship with God.  Unfortunately, Adam’s sin against God, which led to fear, followed mankind for generations to come.

Once Adam disobeyed, he hid from the Lord. Adam’s position and authority were compromised the moment he sinned.  Like Adam, numerous men are in hiding today because of sin.  Whether they are suffering from the sin they have committed themselves, or the consequences of generational sin, everything around them has the potential to be destroyed.

A man’s role is at the foundation of our society. Just as the foundation of a building provides the strength for its structure, the foundation of a society provides strength for our families to our world.  If a man is shaky, anything he touches is going to be shaky, including his family, his finances, and his career.  The only way a man can serve as the foundation that God intended him to be is by subjecting himself to the rule of God.

Once a man accepts his role and responsibilities as assigned by God, he will not need to hide in fear or shame because he knows he is aligned with God’s will and purpose for his life.  A man aligned with God lives by revelation and not human reason.  God cannot do anything in the lives of those who continue to live in sin because they are living by the rules of the culture.

The good news is that there are two Adams mentioned in the Bible.  Where the first Adam caused death, the second one created new life.  1 Corinthians 15:22 gives us the reassurance that through Christ, all men can have victory in life.
