Frequently Asked Questions

Who can volunteer for Impact Saturday?

Any member of OCBF can volunteer, however, pre-registration is required so that we can ensure that all opportunities are fully covered.

Can children volunteer?

Yes, each opportunity listed where children may volunteer provides the minimum recommended ages associated with that volunteer opportunity. All children volunteering must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Is childcare available?

Childcare will not be available. Additionally, those who bring unregistered children with them to Impact Saturday will be turned away if they are not able to be reassigned with their children.

How can I ensure that I serve with a specific person?

Volunteer opportunities are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that you will serve a specific person. If you know where you want to serve and with whom you want to serve, there is the possibility of registering more than 10 people at one time (e.g., your small group). Please consider that serving together is contingent on volunteer opportunities being open with enough space in a particular opportunity. Once we have reached capacity for a particular opportunity, we ask that you choose another of our nearly 1,000 serving opportunities.

How should I dress?

Because most Impact Saturday volunteer opportunities will require physical labor, we ask that you dress comfortably with regard to the weather for the day. Please anticipate that you may get dirty or wet, depending on your chosen activity. Additionally, we require you to wear closed-toe shoes. Please consider safe clothing for landscaping, cleanup, box handling, large donation collection, etc.

What if the weather is bad?

Impact Saturday will proceed rain or shine. However, in cases of extreme weather disturbances, volunteers will be contacted via email/text message with instructions.

I’m not sure if I can make it. Can I show up?

In order to accomplish the goals of Impact Saturday in an efficient and effective way, we require all on-site volunteers to register in advance. This way, we will ensure that all projects are covered and that each volunteer gets a t-shirt and that breakfast is ordered for you.

However, if you are unsure that you will be able to participate on the day of the event, you can still participate by donating items during pre-event collection times or by donating financially in support of the OCBF Missions Ministry or performing a random act of kindness and let us know how it went in the OCBF App.

Additional Ways to Support

We also need supplies for our unhoused families and friends, so please donate new or gently used luggage, reusable tote bags, and supplies for care packs like small toiletries, underclothes, socks, etc. We’ll collect donations in May before and after each service on Sundays and during Wednesday night bible study. We’ll need help packing those bags on Thursday, June 1st, in the afternoon before the event on Saturday, June 3rd.
