Frequently Asked Questions

Who can serve as Kingdom Servants for the Impact Hiring Event or Impact Saturday?

Any member of OCBF can serve as a Kingdom Servant for either the Impact Hiring Event or Impact Saturday. However, pre-registration is required for each event to ensure that all opportunities are fully covered and organized effectively.

Can I serve in more than one area?

We kindly ask Kingdom Servants to sign up for only one area at either the Impact Hiring Event or Impact Saturday. This is important due to the specific nature of the opportunities available and the limited time available for serving. Additionally, registering for one area allows us to accommodate as many Kingdom Servants as possible across different roles.

Can I change what area I want to serve in once I register?

If you need to change your preferred area for either the Impact Hiring Event or Impact Saturday, please contact us at least 3 weeks before the event date. While we understand that plans may change, selecting your initial preferred area helps us avoid challenges and ensure a smooth experience for all Kingdom Servants.

Can children serve as Kingdom Servants?

There are opportunities for youth Kingdom Servants on Impact Saturday, with recommended minimum ages specified for each role. Children who wish to serve must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout their time of service. Additionally, we have expanded the opportunity for families to serve together, with a limit of three children per family. This allows for a more inclusive and meaningful experience for both parents and children as they contribute together.

Is childcare available?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide childcare services during the Impact Hiring Event or Impact Saturday. We kindly ask that Kingdom Servants who plan to bring children ensure that they are registered for appropriate roles and accompanied by an adult at all times.

How can I ensure that I serve with a specific person?

While we cannot guarantee specific Kingdom Servant pairings, we encourage friends or family members who wish to serve together to sign up at the same time. Kingdom Servant opportunities are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so signing up together increases the likelihood of serving in the same area.

Do I need to eat before I come or bring food?

We will provide breakfast at The Impact Hiring Event and a rally breakfast on Impact Saturday. Snacks and water will be available throughout the day at the area where you have signed up to serve. If you have specific dietary needs or preferences, we recommend bringing any additional items you may require.

How should I dress?

For Impact Saturday, most Kingdom Servant opportunities may involve physical labor, so please dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather conditions. Anticipate that you may get dirty or wet, depending on your chosen activity. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. Upon registration, you will receive more detailed information regarding attire and any specific gear needed for your selected role.

Will there be video or photography taken at the event, and can I take my own?

We will be capturing video and photos for both the Impact Hiring Event and Impact Saturday. By registering to serve, you are consenting to have your likeness captured and potentially used in future promotions or advertisements related to these events.

What if the weather is bad?

The Impact Hiring Event will proceed rain or shine. On Impact Saturday, certain outdoor activities may be impacted by inclement weather. While we have indoor contingency plans, in cases of extreme weather disturbances, registered Kingdom Servants will be notified via email or text message with instructions regarding any necessary changes to the event schedule.

I’m not sure if I can make it. Can I just show up?

To ensure the success and efficiency of the Impact Hiring Event and Impact Saturday, we require all on-site Kingdom Servants to register in advance. This allows us to plan and allocate resources appropriately, ensuring that each Kingdom Servant receives a T-shirt, access to breakfast, and a fulfilling serving experience. If you are uncertain about your availability, we encourage you to explore alternative ways to contribute, such as:

  • Donate financially in support of the OCBF Missions Ministry at OCBF Missions Ministry.
  • Donate your time, talents, and treasures at The TurnAround Agenda (the social outreach arm of OCBF) at The TurnAround Agenda.
  • Do an act of kindness in your neighborhood or wherever you may be and let us know about it.

If I need to leave early can I still serve?

Depending on the serving opportunity, we ask that you reach out to us first prior to signing up to serve. We need all those who sign up to be available for the entire time of the serving opportunity. Some areas may finish before others, but we can’t predict how long each serving area will last. Some may finish before the scheduled time for the entire event, while others may end right at the time the event ends. We want individuals who can be available to have an opportunity to serve, and we don’t want the burden to fall on a few because we don’t have maximum assistance.

Can I participate in and/or receive the services provided to the community?

We ask that you serve until your assignment is complete. If you are able to participate in the services being provided after your serving time is completed, we don’t mind. However, please keep in mind that our primary goal is to provide an act of kindness to the community first. Additionally, if you have a friend or loved one who is not serving and has the ability to participate in your place, that may be an option. We understand that individuals have different needs, and we don’t want that to be a distraction or great concern for you.
