Develop and oversee the After School Program to ensure effective and harmonious classroom and activity flow based on the supplied daily program and special schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a supportive and caring environment with activities for children that encourage healthy growth.
  • Supervise, observe, and evaluate the programs on an ongoing basis at all times.
  • Supervise students in gymnasium, playground, restroom, classrooms, and on field trips.
  • Review and evaluate facility activities to ensure conformance to state and local regulations.
  • Confer with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment procedures.
  • Confer with teaching staff regarding children behavioral or learning problems, recommend methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences.
  • Prepare instructional aides and plans.
  • Perform classroom-teaching duties during absence of regular teacher.
  • Authorize purchases of instructional materials and teaching aids such as books, toys, and games designed to stimulate learning.
  • Arrange medical attention for ill or injured child in accordance with parental instructions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise After School Program staff. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Education or higher specializing in Administration and/or Supervision; early childhood education experience; minimum of three years of successful teaching experience; must have appropriate state of Texas supervisor certificate/license and a valid driver license.
